Board Meeting:  October 15, 2015, 3:30 p.m.

 

Present:  President Carol Bridgeman, Vice-President Virginia Mulhern, and Secretary/Treasurer Hallie Yundt Silver

 

Friends President Carol Bridgeman called the Friends Board Meeting to order at 3:30 p.m..

 

Moved by Hallie Yundt Silver and supported by Carol Bridgeman to approve the Minutes of previous Friends board meeting on February 14, 2015.  Motion carried.

 

Moved by Carol Bridgeman and supported by Virginia Mulhern to authorize payment of three invoices:  $14.61 for Party in the Park Fundraiser; $1,000 for Willmann Family Charitable Trust donation; $25.00 for farewell gift to Molly Green, Library Shelver.  Motion carried.

 

Hallie Yundt Silver provided the Director’s Report.  She reported that the Biennial NonProfit Report filed with Missouri Secretary of State.  She said that filing will be due again in August 2017.  Moved by Carol Bridgeman and supported by Virginia Mulhern to accept the Director’s Report.  Motion Carried

 

Moved by Carol Bridgeman and supported by Hallie Yundt Silver to adjourn.  Motion carried.

FRIENDS OF THE HANNIBAL FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Annual Meeting:  October 15, 2015, 4:00 p.m.

 

Present:  President Carol Bridgeman, Harriet Grubb, Vice-President Virginia Mulhern, and Secretary/Treasurer Hallie Yundt Silver.  Absent:  Norman Grubb, Leandra Bridgeman, and Gary Silver.

 

Friends President Carol Bridgeman called the Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Hannibal Free Public Library to order at 4:00 p.m.  Carol Bridgeman greeted and welcomed returning members.  Dues were collected, and the new brochure was distributed. 

 

Hallie Yundt Silver provided the Membership Report.  She reported there were seven members who had paid this year’s dues.  There was consensus that the Membership Report would stand as read.

 

Moved by Virginia Mulhern and supported by Carol Bridgeman to accept the Minutes of the previous meeting of October 16, 2014.  Motion carried. 

 

Hallie Yundt Silver provided the Financial Report.  She reported that as of last bank statement (September 15, 2015), balance in HNB savings was $1,852.68.  She continued that the Friends Board had just approved payment of three invoices:  $14.61 for Party in the Park Fundraiser; $1,000 for Willmann Family Charitable Trust donation; $25.00 for farewell gift to Molly Green, Library Shelver.  She stated that a deposit of $57.00 was made in early October, bringing the balance to $870.30 once the invoices are paid to Hannibal Free Public Library.  She explained that $1,000 had been received by the Friends from the Willmann Family Charitable Fund for the purchase of books, etc., as determined by the library staff.  Moved by Carol Bridgeman and supported by Harriet Grubb to accept the Financial Report.  Motion carried.

 

Hallie Yundt Silver requested that an audit of the books.  She was instructed to contact several members of the Friends and ask them to do so.

 

Carol Bridgeman called three times for nominations from the floor for Officers to serve through October 2016.  Carol Bridgeman was nominated for President, Harriet Grubb for Vice-President, and Hallie Yundt Silver for Secretary/Treasurer.  Moved by Hallie Yundt Silver and supported by Virginia Mulhern to close nominations and elect by acclamation.  Motion carried. 

 

Moved by Hallie Yundt Silver and supported by Virginia Mulhern to update Officers on the HNB Savings Account by removing Virginia Mulhern’s name and adding Harriet Grubb’s name.  Motion carried.

 

Hallie Yundt Silver provided the Director’s Report.  She said that the Friends page on the Library website has been updated.  She presented a copy of Librarian’s Annual Narrative Report to the Friends and reviewed its highlights.  She reported on Rotary’s project which has improved access to early childhood literacy materials at the Library.  She reported on increased outreach activities by Library staff.  She reported that bed bugs, which were discovered at the Library on September 14th, treated, and now seem to be gone after several inspections.  She commented that September’s Library Mini-Golf event was rescheduled because of the bed bug problem the Library encountered.  She reviewed the Calendar for 2015-2016.  Moved by Carol Bridgeman and supported by Harriet Grubb to accept the Director’s Report. 

 

Virginia Mulhern suggested that the Friends develop a card to thank library patrons.  Hallie Yundt Silver suggested a book mark instead and agreed to develop some designs for the next Friends Board meeting. 

 

Moved by Virginia Mulhern and supported by Carol Bridgeman to adjourn.  Motion carried.  The meeting adjourned at 4:25 p.m.
