FRIENDS OF THE HANNIBAL FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY

MINUTES

June 17, 2010

Present:  Debbie Bastian , Anne Carey, Virginia Mulhern, Jeanie Powers , Hallie Yundt Silver

 Friends President Virginia Mulhern called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 

 Moved by Jeanie Powers and supported by Debbie Bastian to approve the minutes from the meeting of April 15, 2010.  Motion carried.

Moved by Anne Carey and supported by Jeanie to approve the Financial Report.  Motion carried.

Membership Report:  Virginia Mulhern reported that she gave an application to Ann Nagy.

Farmer’s Market Report:  Debbie Bastian reported that she and Virginia Mulhern staffed the booth on June 12, selling one box of cards, $64.50 in used books, and targeting families to “Read one book this summer.”  Annie Dixon, Jeanie Powers , and Anne Carey were reminded that their turn at the booth is June 26.

Director’s Report:  Hallie reported on the hiring process to date for Library staff.  She confirmed that the IRS 990 form for the Friends as a Private Foundation had been filed by the due date.  She indicated that Gary Silver would provide information about the Northeast Missouri Community Foundation’s Limited Membership when he could next attend a meeting.  She requested that Debbie Bastian accompany her to talk to the attorney about sales taxes.  She said she was looking into moving the On-Going Book Sale from the basement to the rotunda on the 2nd floor.  And, she thanked Debbie Bastian for her work on organizing the book sale area.

There was no Old Business.  New Business:

There was consensus that Hallie should ask Nancy Scott if she would conduct an informal audit of the Friends books in August. 

Moved by Anne Carey and supported by Jeanie Powers to set the date of the Annual Meeting and Election of Officers on July 15, 2010, and nominate the following slate of officers:  Virginia Mulhern as President, Debbie Bastian as Vice-President, and Hallie Yundt Silver as Secretary/Treasurer.  Motion carried.

Hallie announced that she planned to set aside Wednesday afternoons for public training on Hannibal ’s Virtual Library in August, September and early October. 

 Moved by Anne Carey and supported by Jeanie Powers to adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 5 p.m.
