FRIENDS OF THE HANNIBAL FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY

MINUTES

February 11, 2010

 Present:  Debbie Bastian , Virginia Mulhern, and Hallie Yundt Silver

 Friends President Virginia Mulhern called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.

 There were not enough members present to provide a quorum, so no action can taken at the meeting. 

 Krystin Conley was welcomed as a new member.

Discussion followed concerning the date of the meeting.  There was consensus that Hallie should poll the membership to see if the meeting can be changed to the third Thursday.

 Hallie provided the Director’s Report.  She suggested that the Friends consider utilizing the services of the Northeast Missouri Community Foundation for grants instead of filing the IRS 990 form annually.  The schedule for the book sale was discussed.  Virginia and Hallie have taken care of the HNB signature card for the Friends savings account. 

 Hallie also reported that “Ink by the Barrel” was selected as the name for the annual Author Event, co-sponsored by Community Foundation, Museum and Library.  Two events are planned with Ron Powers:  $25 a ticket for reading & book signing, 1-3 p.m., Sunday, March 21; $50 a ticket for wine & hors d’eouvres & conversation with Ron Powers, 7-9 p.m., March 21.  $65 for a combination ticket.  Both events will be at the Museum.

 Hallie invited members of the Friends to attend Peggy’s retirement party on March 13.  There was consensus that Hallie should purchase a $50 Visa card with approval from the Friends at the March meeting.
